Gifted and Talented Education Program (Gate)

GATE Mission Statement

Garden Grove Unified School District offers a Gifted and Talented Education Program for eligible students in the elementary and secondary settings. Classroom instruction, led by trained educators, is designed to meet the academic, social and emotional needs of gifted students. This instructional support provides the necessary challenge for gifted students to help them reach their full potential, which often extends beyond advanced levels of district and state standards. Students are offered acceleration, enrichment and challenge through an instructional program based on California State recommended program standards for gifted students.

Recommendation or Referral

GATE candidates are identified by teacher recommendation or parent referral. Teachers may discuss a child's candidacy during Parent/Teacher conferences. However, a parent can  independently submit a referral using the "Parent Referral Form".   

Both carry equal value. To submit a Parent Referral, please read further and check eligibility. The Parent Referral Form will ask what GATE behavioral characteristics your child exhibits.
